Belichick has 17 at NE now, but is 64 ... maybe the 29 consecutive seasons at one franchise isn't so safe afterall.
Tom Landry also coached 29 seasons as the head coach for one franchise.

I recall reading in a pro football history book in 1969 something like: "Jim Brown's 1863 yards in a season is for the next century, not this one." The meaning was Brown's single season record wouldn't be broken until the 21st Century, if then.

I think the writer assumed the season would stay at 14 games.

O.J. broke it in 14 games so the writer was wrong regardless.

See? That one went down fast.

Hmm. No mention of Emmitt's rushing record. You guys think it's vulnerable?

Another record who amazes me are the 554 passing yards in a game by Norm Van Brocklin in 1951. In this era, no one has come close to it, unlike the 7-TD passes in a game record.

Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that they held opponents without a touchdown for 22 straight quarters and only allowed two touchdowns (and 28 points total) in their last nine games. :o

It has to be Sammy Baugh's Game on 11/14/1943 against Detroit Lions.

No way any player could come even close to what Sammy Baugh achieved that day: 4 TD passes and 4 INT

No team, in my lifetime, will ever give up less than 10 points per game over a three season stretch like the 1969-71 Vikings.
