Re: I'm a Stalker...

And I'd also like to clarify that I would never (and never did) throw a block like that. First of all, sportsmanship is paramount and I would never lay out a guy who didn't see me coming. Secondly, reciprocity is a b!tch. Unfortunately, Sapp never got his comeuppance. At least not until the bankrup...

Re: I'm a Stalker...

....stalk blocking.... I LOLed at this, Matt. I guess I've thrown about a thousand of 'em but I never thought of it as that. Nice terminology. Well said. That's certainly an apt term for what Warren Sapp did to Chad Clifton. You could even up the ante and call that one a "snuff block.&qu...

Re: HOF Finalists named

Jim Brown was long criticized (including by Paul Brown) for his lack of blocking effort/ability. Maybe the Browns should have gotten rid of him because of this flaw. Brown is not even in my top 50 running backs of all time for that reason. This will be blasphemy to some, but Brown is a little...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

Didn't Lombardi have a contract when he left the Packers for the Redskins and a nice ownership cut? Yes, his Packers contract was set to run through 1974, but the team tore it up so he could go to Washington. Lombardi's attitude was hypocritical, but also reflective of the times. Loyalty in sports ...

Re: Aaron Hernandez

Prosecutors also are exercising caution: should there be something (such as an appeal, a stay, moratorium, pardon, etc.) that vacates or partially vacates the sentence or makes him parole-eligible, there is another conviction that can take the place of this one. When someone is convicted of multipl...

Re: Worst decisions to fire a coach

Whether a decision is good or bad is often only clear in hindsight. Cases in point: - Jim Harbaugh's firing looks even worse now than it did when it happened. - Similarly, Jimmy Johnson's work in Dallas has only risen in esteem as the Cowboys have barely sniffed the playoffs with Jones calling all t...

Re: Worst decisions to fire a coach

The 49ers firing Jim Harbaugh. They were 46-82 in eight seasons before Harbaugh. After he arrived, they went 44-19 and went to three NFC championship games and a Super Bowl. Since his firing, they've gone 7-25 under two coaches in two seasons. I don't know how you top that, one of the most bonehead...

Re: All-Had To Retire Early team

The New England Patriots can contribute two to this team. Darryl Stingley, an outstanding WR who became paralyzed in 1978 in a game versus the Raiders after a hit by DB Jack Tatum. Stingley died at age 55 in 2007. Don Blackmon, a Patriots all-1980s LB who suffered a neck injury in 1987 also versus t...

Re: Where would one find annual league stat totals?

They recently updated their site design to make it more friendly to mobile users. I pointed out a few things to them that in turn no longer worked in a traditional view and they fixed it, but the site menu and organization is still pretty counter intuitive, to say the least.

Re: Belichick, Brady and the New England Patriots

The point most are missing is that there are three elements comprising the triad: Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots. They play in the National Football League of today - not 1999, not 1989, and certainly not decades and decades ago. The machine that is the Patriots compared to ...
