2024 Season Notes wks 11-13

Post by Brian wolf »

Big divisional matchups with Balt-Pitts, Seatt-SF, Wash-Phil and GB would like to take care of Chicago as well. Could Buffalo get revenge for their playoff loss to the Chiefs at home?

Matt Milano will be coming back soon for the Bills but Lattimore still wont play for Washington this weekend. Can Higgins help the Bengals? If Geno Smith struggled, could Howell get a chance to play against the Niners?

Colts go back to Richardson over Flacco, though the Jets defense has been bad since Saleh left. Big test for the Chargers against the Bengals.

Big divisional wins for the Steelers, Seahawks, Eagles and Packers. Buffalo can feel better about beating the Chiefs at home.

Pitts-Balt -- Tough defensive game and the Steelers won the time of possession battle but I cant understand why Jackson and Henry only combined for 17 carries? Keaton Mitchell had no carries as well, as Jackson attempted 33 passes. Bad two-point conversion attempt. Thought Henry would try a jump pass.

GB-Chic -- Packers trying to stay with Lions and Vikings needed this game and probably should have lost. Bears played better this week despite having their kick blocked.

Seatt-SF -- Another divisional loss for the 49ers, who allowed a QB TD run with 12 seconds left. Kudos for Geno Smith making a clutch play despite a difficult game.

Buffalo showed moxie going for it on 4th and 2 with the Chiefs only down by two points. Big TD run for Allen.

The Vikings played bad pass defense against Levis and the Titans but were helped by terrible officiating, which cost the Titans not only a TD, but allowed the Vikings to score a TD on 4th down. The Titans claimed that Prince, a reserve lineman, had lined up properly off the line of scrimmage but was called for three illegal procedures that cost them a first down conversion pass and a TD pass. Where are the replays from NY? The officials even called a horse-collar tackle that didnt exist ... sheesh

I thought I had money won with the Jets in control leading 24-16 but Richardson led a comeback against a defense that continues to struggle. Have the defensive players checked out on Rodgers?
Did they feel he could have saved Saleh's job? They seemed to have played better and harder for Zach Wilson last year ...

The Packers are 2 plays from 5-5, a FG made and a FG blocked

Dead wrong. That team quit on Zach after October.

As a Packers fan, the blocked kick isn't first on the Bears-Packers blocked kick rankings, but it's a distant No. 2!

I was 9, but it's still the greatest finish to a game I've watched live. Even more than Antonio Freeman in 2000. Obviously the most improbable. Props to Jim Gueno for the block.

Its close ... Zach Wilson went 5-7 last year, while Rodgers is at 3-8 this year ... not exactly dead wrong. I had forgotten that Siemian won two games as Jets starter last year.

Chargers nearly blew it tonight, but the rookie McConkey stepped up in the clutch for Herbert. Burrow for the Bengals cant play defense.

So I guess Bryan Robinson is #3?

The Detroit Lions really are the best team in the NFL thus far! And not just because KC finally lost yesterday. They are juggernauts!

Just like Herm Edwards said on ESPN, if you take the logo off their helmet and you don't know who they are, you strictly judge them by how they've been playing (same can apply with not knowing this 9-0 team going into Buffalo have been a back-to-back defending-Champ dynasty so far), then you have to see the Lions as Numero Uno thus far these past so many weeks! Who cares if yesterday was against Jax.

Kudos for Campbell & staff & players for doing the opposite of a letdown so far this year, not being 'hungover' about last year's NFCCG heartbreak in San Fran but playing with a serious, kick-in-the-door vengeance!

KC were due to lose and they did. Of course the Bills have to be able to do that to them in the playoffs. The Chiefs overachieving in a SB-event vs Detroit thus defeating them shouldn't be seen as a surprise if it happens though I would root for the Lions. This '24 Installment is simply doing it by way of the '72 Dolphins, '90 Giants ('82 & '86 Nittany Lions), etc. Doing just enough to pull off close wins as that animated balancing act graphic showed yesterday with Patrick, Andy, and Kelce walking that high tight-rope together. It looked pretty funny.

Of course I'm still sticking with my Chiefs-three-peat prediction though, again, I'd root for Detroit in a SB as well as Bills in the playoffs against them and also considering a certain, now, 8-2 team themselves trying to actually get the top-seed; and will host the Champs on Christmas Day!

Speaking of...this could very well end up being Mike Tomlin's tour de force season! Yes, RW could have played better but I never at all expected he to take on the QB spot as he's been doing. Is it my imagination, or could Chris Boswell - in a not 'weird' shortened strike season, mind you - end up making an '82 Mark Moseley out of himself?? I try not to talk about fantasy football here, but he was my highest scoring player (24 pts) in a lopsided victory yesterday!

Back to the Chiefs. Who knows what'll happen. Maybe they'll actually start to slide though I highly doubt it. But I really wouldn't be surprised if not only they get right on back in the win column, but start winning their games decisively the rest of the year (playing mad).
