One great tool that Pro Football Reference has that is fortunately not behind any paywalls is the ability to see all time rankings that players had through the end of any season.

If it doesn't include AAFC numbers, then I am surprised to see Frankie Albert. Others who were suprising:

Frank Filchock
George Blanda

I'm not surprised to see Hart, Brodie, Hadl, but they seemed to have benefitted from a good sense of timing more than anything.
