Overcoming Bobby Joe Conrad intercepting three passes, Bobby Layne completed 23 of 49 passes for 409 yards and two touchdowns. Tom Tracy caught seven passes for 106 yards. Tracy, from the pass option play, completed a 72 yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Orr. Jimmy Orr caught six passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns, one as shown from Tracy and two from Layne. Jack McClaren caught nine passes for 139 yards.

After the Steelers took a 7 to 0 lead, Ollie Matson returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for touchdown and scored another on a one yard plunge. That guy was murder on Pittsburgh. M.C. Reynolds completed 20 of 32 passes for 235 yards for one touchdown and two interceptions. In relief of Reynolds, LaMar McCann was miserable completing just two of ten passes and three interceptions.
