104th season, Week 15 recap

Post by racepug »

the LVR 63 – 21 the LAC – The Raiders go up 42 – 0 at halftime (their largest-ever halftime lead) and 63 – 7 (the most points they've EVER scored [and the most points that the Chargers have ever given up]) early in the 4th quarter and end up costing Chargers H.C. Brandon Staley his job.

CIN 27 – 24 (OT) MIN – the Bengals stage a comeback from 3 – 17 down, late, and defeat the Vikings in OT by the same score that they beat the Vikings by in OT two seasons earlier.

Indy 30 – 13 PIT – the Colts score the last 30 points of the game to get their 5th win in their last 6 games and hand the ‘Stillers’ their 3rd straight loss.

DET 42 – 17 DEN – the Lions take a 21 – 0 lead at halftime and the game is theirs from there.

CAR 9 – 7 ATL – the Panthers win their 2nd game of the year (both wins coming on a last-second FG) and keep the Falcons from a first-place tie in their division as a result.

CLE 20 – 17 CHI – the Browns overcome a 7 – 17 4th quarter deficit to take this one from ‘Da Bears' (but only after Bears WR Darnell Mooney drops a 'Hail Mary' pass that he had right in his hands in the end zone as time expired).

G.B. 20 – 34 T.B. - Baker Mayfield has, arguably, his best day ever as a pro – with 4 touchdown passes and no interceptions - as the Buccaneers score their most points, ever, at Lambeau Field and Baker Mayfield becomes the first visiting QB in City Stadium/Lambeau Field history to post a perfect passer rating.

MIA 30 – 0 the NYJ – Zach Wilson goes out with a concussion in the 2nd quarter and the Jets never challenge MIA in this one and are officially eliminated from the playoff hunt as a result.

N.E. 17 – 27 K.C. - it takes the Chiefs a while to get going but once they do they leave the Patriots by the wayside in this road win.

'N'awlins' 24 – 6 the NYG – the Saints stay tied for first place in their division with this win which snaps Los Gigantes' 3-game winning streak.

TEN 16 – 19 (OT) HOU – the Texans come through on the road with Case Keenum at QB (with C.J. Stroud ruled out due to post-concussion symptoms) to keep their playoff hopes alive while eliminating the Titans from playoff contention.

the LAR 28 – 20 WAS – the Rams keep themselves in the playoff hunt with this win over the Commanders.

ARZ 29 – 45 SFO – the 49ers struggle for a while but end up with the comfortable win, their 12th straight within the division, over the last-place Cardinals.

BUF 31 – 10 DAL – the Bills dominate the N.F.C. entry based in TX which has shown a "Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde" quality this season - unbeaten (and averaging over 40 pts. per game) at home but only 3 - 4 (and averaging about 15 pts./game in their losses) on the road.

JAX 7 – 23 BAL – the Ravens hand the Jaguars their 3rd loss in a row (and 4th loss in 6 games) while clinching a playoff berth for themselves.

SEA 20 – 17 PHI – And in the game that was "flexed" into the Monday night slot this week the Seahawks end their own losing streak at 4 games while extending PHI’s to 3 and staying unbeaten against the ‘Iggles’ under Pete Carroll (the last time PHI beat SEA? 2008).

After being warned for years, the officials finally called a penalty against Kelce for Slick-Ricking the ball forward, pre-snap. It hurt them but I have to give Drew Lock credit, he finally drove the ball downfield with passes to win the game. The Seahawks were butchering the clock with dink passes before he finally let one loose to Metcalf ...

Detroit failed to get their playoff berth but can control their destiny by beating Mullens and the Vikes this week.

Can Buffalo keep their hot streak alive after dismantling Dallas?Cook is finally getting the carries he should have had earlier in the year to help out Allen, though Diggs is still quiet on the receiving end.

Happy for Keenum to get the victory for Houston after being inactive most of the year. He didnt play that well and Singletary had a great game but when he is on the field, the defense steps up their game when they needed it most. Stefanski has done a great job this year in Cleveland but Ryans is COTY. His defense finally put the clamps on Derrick Henry.

Mooney was a squeeze away from making a game-winning catch for Chicago but now the Bears have to decide if Fields and Eberflus will keep their jobs? They still may take Williams in the draft unless NE or Arizona lose more games than Carolina.

What do you think racepug, should the Hawks continue with Lock after an emotional game and 92 yard drive with the winning TD pass or go back to Geno Smith? Anytime Kenneth Walker gets the football, good things usually happen, so the Seahawks have to utilize him if they want a winning season ... me' thinks. Will Jamal Adams play again this season?

It will be interesting seeing what will happen with Stroud in Houston. There is obvious video he suffered a concussion against Denver, prior to the Jets game. He was cleared to come back and won the game but getting his bell rung again the next week poses the question, should he be shelved till next year or can make it back the last two games? If Keenum could beat the Browns, it will be a tough decision.
