Steve Jordan played 13 years at tight end for the Minnesota Vikings from 1982-1994. During that span of time, Jordan caught more passes for more yards than any other tight end. Jordan averaged 12.7 yards per reception, well above the 11.6 yards per reception average for all tight ends with at least 50 catches during this same period. The nine tight ends in the top ten but with fewer receptions than Jordan during this period include hall-of-famers Ozzie Newsome and Kellen Winslow, both with shorter careers than Jordan (Newsome 1978-1990, Winslow 1979-1987). Jordan's career yards per reception is better than both Newsome and Winslow.

Jordan would probably already be in the HOF if he had more TD catches. Deserves the HOVG, helping out different Viking QBs for years. Like I told Ryan, a TE like Novachek or Bavaro might have been more valuable to their teams but Jordan really took advantage of the passing systems the Vikings used. QBs Kramer and Wilson could be hot or cold however ...

Unquestionably a top-tier tight end. Not sure why he isn't remembered that well. Made several Pro Bowls. His son, Cameron Jordan, is also a pretty good player.
