458 items from Ken Stabler's pro & college career are on the auction block (through August 14). This includes many of his awards & trophies, including his 1976 Hickok belt which proclaimed him as "Pro Athlete of the Year."
Two of the items offered are Stabler's 1974 & 1976 NFL Player of the Year trophies as presented by The Sporting News. Being an awards geek this seems a litte puzzling because I thought TSN only awarded conference Player of the Year awards during the decade of the '70's? This brief Milwaukee Journal article appears to confirm Stabler's 1974 TSN NFL POY award (TSN handed out their conference honors a week earlier):
