The thing I remember about the '89 Steelers is that they had LONG odds to get in the playoffs going into the final week.
Not so much defeating Tampa- they finished ice-cold after playing over their heads through mid-November- but the other dominoes having to fall.
IIRC, they needed Indy/Raiders/Miami/Cincy all to lose and that if any of those 4 teams win, they go to the Astrodome instead, right?
Also, the '89 Bills didn't nail down their playoff spot until the Jets finale. BTW, who was in line to steal the AFC East had the Jets somehow shown up in Joe Walton's finale and pulled a PHI/WSH type surprise ala this past December?
