The Patriots and the Bruins? Have a lot of New Englanders emigrated to Russia?

They were probably sent there by Robert Kraft to get back the Super Bowl ring that Putin walked off with:

The main Russian language newspapers are Izvestia and Pravda.

On May 2, 1962, Izvestia reported that Baseball is an old Russian game.

In Russian, Izvestia is News and Pravda is Truth.

Evaluating the credence of the Russian print media, it is well to keep in mind:

There is no news in the Truth and
there is no truth in the News.
"It was a different game when I played.
When a player made a good play, he didn't jump up and down.
Those kinds of plays were expected."

ELAF is a league for teams from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Two of those nations has its own national league.

In Russia there is UAFR (Union of Amrican Football of Russia) where the Moskow Patriots won 10 out of 11 finals since 2002.

In Ukraine there is FAFU (Federation of American Football of Ukraine). They play a league since 1993 and the Donetsk Scythians are the winningest team with 13 finals won.

I have to recheck the Ukraine part. Especially now, this wouldn't be true. Is the newspaper still called Pravda?

Ronald Reagan once showed, during an address to the nation, an aerial photo of Nicaragua, showing baseball fields. He said this proved Cuba was there with advisers and such.

The truth is that baseball was introduced to Nicaragua before it was to Cuba. Circa 1890. Actually it was in Cuba earlier, c.1860. The point is that by 1980s it was already quite popular in Nicaragua. The Cubans needn't visit for baseball diamonds to appear.

Now this one example, or one administration in this country, is not the same as the approved newspaper which was owned and run by the Soviet government.

I found a few years ago that the online Russian news program was very good for reports from Japan after the tsunami. But awful for news relating more directly to Russia, itself. Not surprising. What is scary is it is state run. Aat least Fox News, while definitely trying to run the country, is privately owned.

For Russia, I could only find championship games for 2010 to 2014

For Ukraine, 2008 to 2014 (no 2013)
, and 2000 for some reason.

Probably because I don't know how to research (or read) Cyrillic

Back in the late '80s there were rumors that the Cardinals and Vikings would play a preseason game in Moscow.

In 1990, a team from the U.S.S.R. called the Moscow Bears played a few games in America. They were led by former Broncos head coach John Ralston. They were outscored 186-0 in their first four games, but won their final game in America by a score of 2-0. The Bears dressed in red and yellow and their helmets featured the Soviet hammer and sickle. https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid= ... 6017&hl=en
