You got it! I wanted to throw out a lot of clues, but nothing easily searchable on PFR. Mirer was actually benched for Erik Kramer at the half. In his 12 quarters as the starter, the Bears had scored three field goals.

correct! I thought maybe the franchise moving from Memphis to Nashville would thrown people off because the "Tennessee" part of their name didn't change.

- The aforementioned QB would play for 3 teams in his career. This was his second team.

1976 the 49ers shutout of the Rams. Winning team QB - Jim Plunkett, Rod Perry the D-back.

The winning team in this game had two different quarterbacks throw TD passes. The team would make their first Super Bowl just a few years later, but neither quarterback would be in service for them by that time.

The winning team had a HOF running back. He too would not be present for the Super Bowl.

The winning team scored a touchdown on an interception return by a player who had been a former teammate of Gino Cappelletti's. This was followed on the very next play by a kickoff return TD by a man who would be a future teammate of Marcus Allen's.

The losing team had a future Super Bowl MVP at running back.

Correct! That 1976 early season 49ers team reminds me a bit of the 1995 early season Rams. Started off hot but slumped back into the mediocrity each team was known for in their respective decade.

I made a mistake in the original port for this particular name the game. I just remembered the Tennessee franchise was already playing in Nashville at the time. Their last season as the Oilers was played at Vanderbilt Stadium. Adam got the game correct anyway.
