This game matched two first-year head coaches, one of which got their first NFL victory.
The winning team had a future Super Bowl winning QB. A former college teammate of his scored a touchdown for the winning team in this game.
The losing team had won the Super Bowl just a few years previously. Their quarterback in this game was a rookie who would be a future NFL MVP.

This would be the first NFL coaching appearance of Howard Schnellenberger (Colts) and Chuck Fairbanks (Patriots) and Fairbanks' first win.

The Patriots won this game and their future super bowl winning QB was, of course, Jim Plunkett.
Randy Vataha, his college teammate, scored a TD in this game on a 46 yard fumble return.

Baltimore won Super Bowl V (3 seasons previously but two years before this game). Their rookie QB in 1973 was Bert Jones, who went on to be MVP in 1976.
As a side note, this game featured a combined 79 rushes versus only 32 passes attempted (and 14 completed).
Definitely a game from another era...

*This regular season game had 5 scoring plays (one being a safety), with neither team scoring double-digits.
*One team was coached by an ex-NFL player, the other team's coach had been a big name in college football.
*Each team used two QBs, and each team's backup QB had been a 1st round pick.
*A punter was credited with 2 rushing attempts for 0 yards.
*A two-time Super Bowl champ returned 6 punts for 54 yards.
*The winning team's RB had a career-best 31 rushing attempts, although he averaged less than 3 yards per attempt.

The losing team had two Hall of Fame players on the roster. One scored a touchdown.
The losing team had a former league MVP on their roster who was not one of the Hall of Fame players.
The winning team had no Hall of Fame players on their roster.
A running back on the winning team caught 3 touchdown passes.
The winning team scored a safety.

1981 Bills 22 Browns 13
RB Joe Cribbs caught three touchdown passes.
Ozzie Newsome caught a TD from former MVP Brian Sipe. Joe DeLamielleure was the other HOF Brown.
Buffalo didn't have any HOF players from 1980 (when they traded Joe D to Cleveland) through 1985 (when they drafted Bruce Smith and Andre Reed.)
