The amount of times I get referred to as "James" when I'm quite certain no one here is unfamiliar with the name "Jameis" never ceases to amaze me.
Apologies for using the wrong name all these years and if they put Marshall over Martin for the final 9 i wouldnt be shocked or surprised even though martin is more deserving

What on earth was Marshall doing in those years where he had like 2 sacks in 14 starts? Playing the first drive and then leaving the game?!

I honestly feel Bud Grant was honoring Marshall's wish for the consecutive games/starts record, which he got. Grant always felt that Marshall was a great example and all-out player for his team and simply didnt want to cut him. Maybe he looked at him as a player-coach his final three seasons?

Marshall had seven seasons of four or fewer sacks but could still put pressure on, or contribute to teammates' pressures.

Never thought of that in terms of Marshall being a player/coach his last three years 77-79

Well, much of his career Carl Eller and Alan Page were getting a lot of sacks. So that's something to be considered. And if those seasons are after those two are gone, teams might have double-teamed up on Marshall the whole game. There are a lot of possibilities In those questions.

Happy for Wistert, White Shoes, Foreman, and Otis Taylor. Hoping they all get in. If not, they're still in my own personal Hall of Fame.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, 1977 was the last season those three played together (probably the last season that the 70’s Vikings core was mostly together and competitive in general on a side note).

If so, then they’d have been double teaming Marshall at age 41 and 42 at the very end of his career.
