That's an interesting video on a tape that has somehow survived more than 30 years-- of course, all the formula is right there, get a well-known name (Coach Malavasi had been that back in the 80s), announce the cities and an opening date, and the gimmick that sets it apart. I love how Malavasi talks as if spring-summer football is a bold new idea. I remember now the league that single wing was talking about-- the UNGL. What an awful abbreviation, managing to convey the idea of ugly, unglued, bungle, etc. in a few letters. And when did "football" become the new "F-word"? That other one, the NBC/Ted Turner league had an interesting idea of major corporations owning the teams, and Federal Express had expressed an interest in having a Memphis franchise in this fly-by-night business. I think the New York Times wrote that the players' uniforms would be "festooned with logos" like NASCAR.
