Actually, the NFL rules say that the score in a forfeited game would be 2-0.

I think everyone knew that was wrong but there might be a way - very 'round-about - for a 1-0 score to be posted - after the fact.
If not, then the scenario would likely create a "Forfeit" of 2-0 which would create havoc with legitimately earned stats...
(Imagine Jimbo Sackmaster losing the title because the sacks he got in this game are negated?
In order to be fair, (I know! I know! That's a stretch!) but maybe they would.

Anyway, here's the play...
Following the only score of the day, a TD, the D blocks the Try / EPA / whatever you wanna call it and runs the balls for a 1-point score.
Monday, or Tuesday, or Friday morning, it is determined that Ahmad Touchdownmaker is not signed to a valid contract so his TD is taken down and the 1-0 score remains?

How about that? (as the old Alabama ballantine salesman would say...)

Move the hash marks back towards the sidelines. Or even eliminate them. It would give the coordinators more to plan on offense and defense and make for acute angles for the kicks. Perhaps the angles would make it difficult. And near impossible sometimes if the ball was too close to the sideline to approach the ball from the side

Or an impossible idea given the players union and specialization: Make a field goal have to be kicked by one of the players in the game the down before the kick is tried, which would be a slight return to limited substitution. Which would be ironic since one reason limited substitution was first relaxed, then eliminated was to allow kicking specialists.

Also, if the defense runs an extra point miss back to the other end zone, in the NFL, this counts for nothing. Not 1 point.

P.S.- Did you know, no copy has ever been found of the jingle, "Baseball and Ballantine"?

Why?
The jingle ended "... baseball and Ballantine beer."
Ballantine wanted to focus only on ale - "Purity, Body, and Flavor" as I recall (like a lot of those sweet little Catholic school girls I knew kept in line by the dear Sister Europeandasia and her crew.)

Make the field goal worth 2 points. Never happen... I know. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't.

The NFL doesn't know what to do about Extra Points and Kickoffs. My thought on this draws a bit from rugby...the scoring team can elect to kick the Extra Point from anywhere on the field, and the spot of the Extra Point kick will also be the spot used for the ensuing kickoff to the other team. So a team can kick an extra point from the 18-yard line, the spot of the kick is the 35-yard line, and the ensuing kickoff is from the 35-yard line. I think this solves both "problems" in that it can make extra points more difficult, but also allow teams to boot the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs as a "reward" for the more difficult extra point.

If kicking is so easy how did Phil Dawson get a FG blocked this year when Arizona had only nine players on the field?

No, not really.

1) There is no such animal in the NFL, run the PAT back the other way and all you get is excercise. No points. It isn't allowed, it isn't a rule.

2) It is in the NCAA, but it would be 2 points, not one. Unless the guy stops and drop kicks it for one point (but drop kicking from anywhere is only allowed in the CFL, where there already is a way for a 1-0 score, using the rouge (point, single))

In fairness, I think that was intended as a humorous retort after readers pointed out that a forfeit would be a 2-0 score in the NFL rather than 1-0, and that a 1-0 score is not actually possible. Still, maybe there's a bubblegum scented card with the picture of Ahmad Touchdownmaker on it...
