This was basically a tale of two halves: Miami led 30-3 at the half, and Pittsburgh scored all 23 second half points and almost pulled off the miracle comeback.
I remember the first time I watched this game was after I had just watched a 2000 something MNF football game, and the contrast in commercial breaks (amount and length of) is what stood out most, ha. Other than a favorite of mine, Joe G. having a tough outing and as you said, the tale of two halves.

Dick Anderson had one of the ten greatest individual defensive games of all time, returning two pick sixes and nearly a third, with four interceptions.

In my opinion, the 35-34 game might have been the greatest regular season game in pro football history. It had a lot of things going for it:

- A do or die game for the Redskins, a number one seed in the NFC if they win, but they're out of the playoffs if they lose.
- Played in the context of a great rivalry between two teams who truly hated one another.
- The double comeback, including a comeback by "Captain Comeback" in his final regular season game with less than a minute to play.
- Great performances on both sides, including John Riggins, who scored on a TD very similar (going to the right side instead of the left) to the one he scored against the Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII.

I just can't think of another regular season game with as much on the line and it delivered on all counts. I'd like to see others make cases for other games.

Good point. It was pretty pivotal, too. If the Skins win, they probably end up in the SB. John Riggins probably doesn't take a year off, and they do better in 1980 than they did in reality (maybe well enough that Joe Gibbs isn't brought in).
