Zapiec played seven seasons in the CFL for Ottawa and Montreal, and twice won a Grey Cup for the Alouettes. He was twice a CFL-All Star and he gattered another four CFL-East All Star selections. In 1979 he returned to the NFL to play for Marv Levy in Kansas City (who had been his coach in Montreal), but suffered a neck injury in training camp and had to retire.
