On a Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers at Forbes Field defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 13 to 7. This allowed CBS to televise the New York Giants at St Louis the next day. Both teams rushed for 100 yards but the Giants had the big edge passing-237 to 164.
In the early going both teams were about equal. John David Crow scored touchdowns on runs of seven and one yard. The Giants scored on a six yard pass from Y.A. to Del Shofner. Alex Webster made a one yard plunge. For a time it looked like the score would be tied at halftime; but late in the half Dick Lynch ran a fumble recovery from 21 yards for a touchdown. At halftime, New York 21 St Louis 14.
The Giants dominated the second half while the Cardinals did nothing. Y. A. Tittle, with all his receivers covered, ran 21 yards for touchdown. He was thrilled jumping up and down. Don Chandler kicked a short field goal and the Giants won 31 to 14. Dick Lynch, in addition to the fumble recovery, had a pass interception.
For New York. Tittle completed 16 of 26 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown. Frank Gifford caught six passes for 97 yards. Del Shofner caught four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.
For St Louis. Sam Etcheverry and Charley Johnson completed 11 of 24 passes for 107 yards. Bobby Joe Conrad caught six passes for 105 yards. Final Giants 31 Cardinals 14.

Yes, what John said!
"Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football."

You guys have to remember, this was 1962 and getting a freebee game was a big deal. There was no home television if there was a game in your area. TV really didn't become a big thing until 1966.

I did watch these games. That's the only one I post. I recall some big plays but use the internet for details.
