COFFIN CORNER VOLUME 46 NUMBER 6 is now available in Members Only. The issue includes the following:

PFRA-ternizing. An announcement of three speakers added to the list of those already announced for the 2025 PFRA Convention: Darrell Thompson, former Green Bay Packers running back and current Chair for the Pro Football Retired Players Association (PFRPA) Board of Directors, as well as authors and PFRA members Charles Billington and Tommy Phillips. Additional details of the convention are also provided.

John ‘Never Give Up’ Taylor by John Vorperian.
A short biography of John Allen Taylor, who played in three different pro football leagues—the WFL, the NFL, and the CFL—and faced numerous challenges, including a catastrophic car accident that left him with a one-percent chance of survival. He overcame them all and today heads the non-profit JT-Never Give Up Foundation.

The Blizzard That Fizzled: The 1963 Syracuse Stormers by Doug Bigelow.
The story of the short-lived United Football League (UFL) team with Hall of Fame coach Steve Owen at the helm (and Jim Thorpe’s grandson as a player), that managed to go winless for the ’63 season, lost both money and fans, and finally fold operations after only a year in the league.

Border Crossing: The Arena Football League’s Buffalo Destroyers by Gary Cobb.
An account of the first cross-border matchup between teams from America and Canada of the Arena Football League. The Buffalo Destroyers traveled north to face the Toronto Phantoms in the first official international game in league history. The Destroyers won 61–54, with rookie quarterback Jim Kubiak earning MVP honors.

2024 PFRA Bookshelf by John Maxymuk. The annual bibliography of pro football books published this year, including those by PFRA members Charles Billington, Kristine Setting Clark, Gary Cobb, Darin Hayes, Greg Tranter, T. J. Troup, Chris Willis, and Joe Zagorski.
