Chiefs & Vikings the last two unbeatens! Both are 5-0. Never expected such a thing with Minny!

Anyways, the Super Bowl this February is in New Orleans. And so was the case with SBIV!

The least intimidating 5-0 teams since 2009 Denver

The teams in 2024 honestly feel as mediocre as they have ever been in recent memory. The Chiefs are undefeated at 5-0 but could easily be 1-4 or 2-3. The game tonight against the Saints was the first game of the season that I felt like they legitimately won and didn't just win a toss up game where a couple key calls went their way that helped them get the victory. I'm sure the same thing could be said about many other teams in the league.

I know a lot of the current fans of the NFL like it this way because it does make it feel like every team has a chance no matter what their record is and that they are just one or two players away from being one of the best teams in the league. But man do I sure miss the days where we had teams that truly stood out. Where there were conversations about actual teams and not just individual players. I look at many NFL boards these days and the vast majority of conversations are just who the best quarterbacks and wide receivers are. It's like many current nfl fans are more invested in individual players than they are in actual teams. I'm sure much of that stems from people probably being more attached to their fantasy teams than the actual real life teams but the NFL sure does feel like the NBA now where people are fans of individual performance and much less about actual team play.

Look back at the '80's where I think many would agree that Dan Marino was a better quarterback than Joe Montana but Montana won the Super Bowls because he played on the better team. The '80's 49ers vs Dolphins debate though doesn't exist anymore in the current watered down NFL. It's only about who does have the best quarterback. Doesn't matter how good your overall team is as long as you have that quarterback.

Haha ... I knew I goofed calling Rudolph, Randolph. Hopefully, I will remember it better if he keeps the starting job.

Garrett Wilson is overrated for the Jets. He finally has a real thrower and still isnt making a difference. They need him to step up against Buffalo, or the Jets could have a long season.*

Thought the Saints would step up last night but they couldnt. Can Carr keep them on the road to success? The first two wins are an after-thought.

Watson has to be a happy camper. With Buzbee settling quickly with the woman, so he can focus on the huge Sean Combs indictments, Watson will still get his money, regardless how he plays on the field. The Browns should release him anyway.

*Edited ... I was wrong, after seeing the replay of the Jets-Vikings game. Wilson was targetted by Rogers more, though I cant understand why they arent on the same page, more often?
Maybe with the coaching change, Hackett will get better about getting his top players more involved but we will see.

Most Vikings predictions here were 3-14 and 5-12. The guys that guessed 5-12 still have a chance to get it right. ;)

Hmmm…do many people think that Marino was a better QB than Montana? Dan had better physical tools but Joe is on Mount Rushmore. Also, I don’t recall there ever being a 49ers vs. Dolphins “debate” other than possibly in 1984 when they met in the SB.

The Chiefs looked the best they have all year last night, I have to admit. Meanwhile, the Vikings easily had their worst game of the season on Sunday. I don't think either team is long for the undefeated world.

Every team now has a win as well, with the JAGs getting on the board. There's an argument to be made that the equally 1-4 Bengals are better than the undefeated teams. Agree with the view that this season has seen mostly mediocrity. No one stands out as a team or an individual, except probably Derrick Henry. The only thing that can stop him is game script.

I still have not the slightest clue who the MVP frontrunner is. Burrow won't do it on a losing team, Allen was abysmal this week (when is the last time a widely recognized elite QB had a 30% completion game?!), no one else is earning it, and God forbid it's Jackson again.

The most interesting award race is easily... Comeback Player of the Year. As it's become "Zombie QB of the Year" of late, Darnold seems like an obvious pick, but if he doesn't hold up, maybe this is the year they decide to give it to Mayfield, who probably deserved it last year, or Hamlin, who is actually making a major impact now, most of which was delivered to Tua's cranium. Henry was never hurt or bad enough (and probably gets OPOY instead), and I can't imagine anyone (Flacco) winning this award back-to-back, but they're worth mentioning too.

After five weeks there are just four teams with four wins or more (Detroit 3-1).

On the flip-side, there are no more winless teams but six 1-4s (Titans 1-3).

Seems like forever when the Saints and Seahawks started out undefeated. Both have lost three in a row which is tough on the fans, considering the talent on these teams. At least the Niners finally won a division game. Buffalo needs to beat the Jets to avoid their own three game skid ...
