Westwood One radio broadcasts

I was driving home from covering a Monday night high school football game (yes, some newspapers still do that!) and tuned my radio to the MNF game. I found it to be maddening to listen too because the crowd noise was so loud I could barely understand what Kevin Harlan was saying most times and we all know Harlan gets excited! Anyway, is this typical of the Westwood One broadcasts?

That seems to be the trend with a lot of broadcasts today, not just Westwood One. I see (errr...hear) that on television broadcasts, too.
