Sure, but it was really just for fun, not who I think was the best, just my post-war favorites, no super seniors. And I wasn’t strict about strong v. weak side DEs, 4-3 v. 3-4 LBs, where my safeties would play, etc.

DE: Len Ford, Deacon Jones
DT: Alan Page, Leo Nomellini
MLB: Joe Schmidt
OLB: Chuck Bednarik, Robert Brazille
CB: Dick Lane, Albert Lewis
S: Em Tunnell, Larry Wilson

I will take Bryan's approach but split it up ...

Best Starting Defense Pre-1970

DE -- Marchetti
DE -- Jones
DT -- Lilly
DT -- Karras (Nomellini, Olsen just miss)
MLB -- Schmidt (George just misses)
OLB -- Bell
OLB -- Howley
FS -- Christiansen
SS -- Tunnell (Wilson just misses)
CB -- Lane
CB -- Adderley

Best Starting Defense Post-1970

DE -- White
DE -- Youngblood/Smith (34)
DT -- Page
DT -- Greene
NT -- Culp
MLB/ILB -- Lewis (Lambert, Gradishar just miss)
Edge/OLB -- Taylor
OLB -- Brooks (Ham just misses)
FS -- Lott (Reed so close)
SS -- Shell (Houston just misses)
CB -- Woodson
CB -- Blount (Revis, Sanders, Haynes miss but werent tacklers)

This is what I've ended up with for the time being. It's always a bit strange to trot out a list of players not knowing what/who is on the field. I'd put LT at right edge until an offense showed he couldn't hold up then Bruce Smith and try LT at wlb:

LDE Reggie White
LDT Joe Greene
RDT Aaron Donald
RDE Lawrence Taylor
SLB Bobby Bell
MLB Ray Lewis
WLB Derrick Brooks
LCB Dick Lane
RCB Deion Sanders
SS Ronnie Lott
FS Ed Reed
