I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck at an Allegany State Park Historical Society meeting a few years ago.

He is the 6th Lombardi Packer Hall of Famer who has died in the past two years.

Adderly was adept at taking away a team's best receiver, Otis Taylor of KC in SB I and Fred Biletnikoff in SB II.
In an era where the "cover corner" gets all the acclaim Herb could do it all including holding his own
against sweeps and screen passes. He also returned kickoffs, averaging over 25 yards a return. In addition to
all the titles he was a part of in Green Bay he finally plugged the hole Tom Landry had at CB and helped
get the Cowboys to SB V and VI. While my modern-era friends extol the virtues of the flashy Deion Sanders, I'll
take Adderly on my all-time team.

Not a real surprise since even the youngest members of that era would now be in their mid-70's.

The list of notable (or at least semi-notable) Lombardi-era Packers still with us keeps shrinking:

Donny Anderson
Ken Bowman
Tom Brown
Bill Curry
Carroll Dale
Boyd Dowler
Jim Flanigan
Marv Fleming
Jim Grabowski
Paul Hornung
Bob Hyland
Jerry Kramer
Bob Long
Chuck Mercein
Tom Moore
John Rowser
Ben Wilson

Who did I forget?

(P.S. Adderley, not Adderly)

The 1960's were a long time ago. They are still very vivid to me.

Me too, buddy.

Every once in a while, I try to imagine Johnny U with a neck tattoo and diamond earrings.
