Vaughan Johnson, former linebacker with the Jacksonville Bulls, New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles died on December 12, at the age of 57:

James "Radio" Kennedy, subject of the 2003 film starring Cuba Gooding Jr., passed away at the age of 73. Radio lived in the next county over from me, and was a beloved figure in the local community, he was always working to raise money for charities. While he never played football, he was synonymous with the TL Hanna football team for decades:

Another death of a football related figure who had a motion picture made about him - Coach Herman Boone, the legendary Virginia high school football coach portrayed by Denzel Washington in the movie "Remember the Titans", has passed away at the age of 84:

Rex Johnston, former halfback with the Pittsburgh Steelers (also played briefly with the Pittsburgh Pirates) died on December 15, at the age of 82:

Jimmy "Spiderman" Allen, who was a member of the Pittsburgh Steeler's stellar 1974 draft class and played with the Steelers and Lions, passed away earlier this week.
