Youre right Bob but I was also thinking about the Patriots shutting down the Colts in 2004/05 as well but it was a divisional game. Still, those defeats of the Colts helped allow the team and Brady to win back-to-back SBs, which Manning finally avenged in 2006/07 ...

Montana/Elway and Montana/Marino have been mentioned and I think those pairings are certainly among the best.
However, I don't think we should forget another "Montana pair"...

I don't think they rate as the "Best Ever" but an honorable mention should go to Joe Montana and Ken Anderson in SB XVI.

For "old time" pairs Layne/Graham would probably be my selection, just ahead of Luckman/Baugh.
Bradshaw/Staubach would be a personal favorite (and another great match-up!).

Old time vote would go to 1950/51 Title games of Graham/Van Brocklin/Waterfield.
