Canton Roster w/ Numbers 1920

Post by JeffreyMiller »

I am looking for a Canton roaster from 1920, with numbers. If anyone has it and can scan it for me, it would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It's possible, maybe likely, that the players didn't have numbers in 1920. I'm pretty sure numbers weren't used in baseball until 1927 or so.

I have a couple of action shots from the Buffalo-Canton game and both teams have numbered shirts. Trying to identify one player from Cantin who is wearing #30

Interesting. In that case, you might try the Hall of Fame library. They have -- or at least they used to have -- a large collection of old programs. (Though I imagine they get pretty scarce when you go as far back as 1920.)

There is no number 30 listed on this roster but there are some blanks... perhaps one of those...
