One of the toughest losses of Anderson's career, that season ending loss to the Oilers. For the second straight year, the Bengals had their chance to dethrone the Steelers but couldnt get it done. The Raider loss in 76 and Oiler loss in 77, I believe, are keeping Anderson out of the HOF. Fans can only ponder what the Bengals could have done in the playoffs ?

And I think both of those were after Bill Walsh left, correct? Anderson kind of slips under a lot of people's radar if they aren't old enough to remember him play.

Tough losses. The Oilers came close to beating the Steelers, too, in 78 and 79, but it just goes to show how tough that AFC Central was back then. I often wonder what if say, the Lions were put in the AFC Central rather than the Steelers during the merger. Does Anderson go to an earlier Super Bowl? Do the Raiders dominate the AFC for years? Does Bum Phillips get Houston into a Super Bowl?

And then on the NFC, Steelers/Cowboys just to get to the Super Bowl....
