Tough to top 1982 SD Chargers at SF 49ers, Montana vs Fouts. Over 1,000 yards of total offense (no, not a misprint!). Imagine if his had been the SB XVI match up!

Lamonica almost did throw a 7th TD pass but rookie WR Drew Buie stepped out of bounds inside the 1-yard line on the final play of the 1st half. You can see the play in the 1969 Raiders highlight film!

The 1974 NE Pats had a murderous schedule that included 8 games against playoff teams, Miami (2), Buffalo (2), Oakland, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and the LA Rams. They went 3-5 against that gauntlet and still managed to finish 7-7 in their road back to respectability.
