Re: Most stints with the same team
George Allen had three stints as a coach with the Rams. He coached the receivers in 1957, only to be fired. Allen was the head coach of the Rams from 1966 through 1970. He was fired in 1968 but rehired a short time later. Then he was hired again in 1978, only to be fired after two pre-season games. ...

Re: Bo Jackson being drafted by Raiders
I was watching Bo Jackson highlights; the guy was spectacular. Long runs, 5.4 YPC, 70+ rushing yards per game. The Raiders usually had Marcus Allen carrying the ball near the goal line, so Bo only had 16 rushing TDs...but the average distance was 29 yards, which I assume is some type of record. Any...

Re: Urban Meyer and other college-to-NFL coaches
Jimmy Johnson - one of very few I can think of off the top of my head who won (national and league) championships at both the college and pro levels. I'm not sure how much of a strategist or tactician he was ever considered to be, though. Nick Saban - He was a flop in the N.F.L. My recollection is ...

Re: Dallas Cowboys Running Backs
Calvin Hill had about 5,000 yards with Dallas. I believe he scored about 39 touchdowns. He deserves consideration, IMHO.

Re: Super Bowl 0 - What if?
It's hard enough to remember what really did happen!
I don't see the '65 Bills as a better team than the teams the Packers beat in SB I & II. The '65 Packers, however, were probably better than their '66 and '67 clubs. So I see Green Bay winning this game that never happened.

Re: Urban Meyer and other college-to-NFL coaches
I am a little surprised no one has yet mentioned Bill Walsh. Walsh was the head coach at Stanford before he took the reins in San Francisco. He later returned to Stanford after his NFL career. In his first stint in Palo Alto he was 17-7 and won Bowl games both seasons. In his second stint (post 49e...

Re: Urban Meyer and other college-to-NFL coaches
George Allen was the head coach at Morningside (Iowa) and Whittier (Calif) before his years as an assistant with the Rams and (a few years later) the Bears. Allen was a winner at both Morningside and Whittier, then won with both the Rams and in Washington. He was successful in the USFL and then went...

Re: Oldest franchise
Every so often, I see the Cardinals referred to as the NFL's oldest franchise. But isn't the Bears' franchise just as old. Yes, of course they started as the Decatur Staleys, but was there any discontinuity in the franchise during or after the move to Chicago? Oldest franchise? The Bears and Cards ...

Re: punts and drop kicks - rule change
You can score a field goal or conversion point on a drop kick, so it makes sense that a drop kick must be behind the line.
