Re: Best One-Year Wonder in NFL History?

1989 Packers with Majkowskis big year going 10-6. They won a lot of close games. they were 4-12 in 1988, 6-10 in 1990, and 4-12 in 1991 Similar story in 1972: 10-4 and division title, bracketed by 4-8-2 and 5-7-2. The odd thing about the '72 squad is that they were 6-3 against winning teams, so it'...

Re: How to identify worst receivers?

As you said, lots of variables involved. I think the simplest way is to look at the 'newfangled' yards-per-target stat. It kind of takes into account catch% and yards produced, which I think is what you are doing. For instance, in Tavon Austin's last season with the Rams, he had 13 catches on 22 ta...

Best One-Year Wonder in NFL History?

Who do you consider to be the best one-year wonder team in NFL history? A team that out of nowhere rose from the bottom for one season, and then promptly went back to obscurity the next year...

The resources available on this site and the work being done to compile them is outstanding, it is without a doubt worth the price of becoming a member. I joined this year and have loved looking through the content on here.

Re: Top wide receivers in history

I feel the top 3 are...

1. Jerry Rice
2. Don Hutson
3. Randy Moss

Production-wise there have been other receivers that put up amazing numbers, but these 3 dominated the competition like no other.

Re: Eras of NFL Football

Great responses! I think if I were to take a stab at it, I would divide the eras up by when the play of the game noticeably changed. Clear changes to the rules that altered the game in a big way. I might go... 1920-1949: "Iron Man" Era, two-way players and a game that's hard to recognize t...

Eras of NFL Football

Would anyone be kind enough to break down the eras of NFL football for me? I've heard the "Iron Man" Era and the "Modern" Era of football referenced before. I know there's been significant shifts in the rule book that have drastically altered play, such as the passing rules of 19...

Re: To longtime Green Bay Packers fans...

Of all the seasons during the "dark era" where the Packers managed to give some hope (namely '72, '78, early 80's, and '89), I imagine the Dan Devine era had to be the most frustrating. I didn't live it, but the Packers seemed to have a decent roster, especially in 1972! John Brockington w...

To longtime Green Bay Packers fans...

What was your most enjoyable year/years watching the Packers between the Lombardi era and the Ron Wolf era (1968-1991)? I was born just before Brett Favre became a Packer, so fortunately for me I missed the decades of losing after Lombardi. Were there any bright spots you enjoyed? Any years that got...
