Sorry for the delayed reply, but an incomplete pass in or through the end zone on fourth down effectively resulted in a touchback. That rule was in effect from 1934 through 1974. I think the confusion regarding fourth down is that the Holy Roller Rule applies to fumbles on fourth down as well as those under two minutes.
