Re: Who's the best 9-7 team that DIDN'T make the playoffs?

Another strong team was the 1984 St Louis Cardinals who had a chance to beat Washington in RFK the final game to win the division but missed a FG, I believe. This offence was potent with Anderson, Mitchell, Lomax and Roy Green looking like Warren Wells going deep ! They had the offense to beat anyon...

Re: Dick Vermeil HOF worthy?

I am new to this site, so I am sure other coaches have been discussed in these forums but Schottenheimer, Knox and Reeves continue to deserve consideration. Why is it okay for Levy to get elected going to four straight SBs -- and losing-- but not okay for Reeves going to three out of four SBs ? Not ...

Re: 2020 Hall of Very Good Election Results

Its strange that someone who makes the HOF, Jim Covert, doesnt get elected to this HOVG. Is there a silent protest going on or he simply isnt better than the players selected ?

I understand, completely.

Re: They're Playing My Game

According to the book, Stram was not a huge fan of Jack Steadman. I felt Steadman was the one who got rid of Abner Haynes for his involvement in the 64 AFL Boycott of the All-Star game in New Orleans. He probably persuaded Hunt to fire Stram and Levy as well. The Chiefs were pathetic until Peterson ...

Re: Dick Vermeil HOF worthy?

Thats the thing about Shaw. With the HOF already recognizing players like Lavelli, Speedie and Motley's dominant play in the AAFC, why not recognize Shaw as well ? His 49ers pushed Cleveland to be a great team and he lost the final AAFC Championship to them in 1949. He created the million dollar bac...

Re: Cory Littleton's bizarre adventure

Its simple ... he is not playing behind Donald anymore and since signing that fat contract, doesnt have the hunger to excell. Many players have gone through this, which is a shame. The Raiders could release him.

Re: Is Richard Sherman a HOFr?

I believe so. Revis will get in but not first ballot. Had too mercenary an attitude but cant blame him for wanting to get paid. It worked for Deion Sanders.

Re: Dick Vermeil HOF worthy?

To me, another deserving older coach is Buck Shaw who beat Lombardi for a championship and coached a lot of HOF players. I like Blanton Collier as well, despite Art Modell's drama.

Modern Finalists for 2021

Not too many surprises but was hoping Eric Allen, Steve Tasker, Hines Ward, Darren Woodson and Patrick Willis would advance. Young didnt make it either. At least Mills and Matthews will be heard.
