It took 72 years and a day, but Fred (Dippy) Evans record of two fumble returns for touchdowns in a game has been tied. Evans did it against Washington on 11/28/1948. Today Carolina's Jeremy Chinn did it against Minnesota.

Does anyone know why the Rock Island Independents jumped to the AFL in 1926? They weren't a powerhouse, but had a respectable 24-14-11 record in their six NFL seasons, with only one losing season (1923). Are they the only team to leave the NFL for another league? I can't think of another one.

I ran across this while doing some fumble research and thought of this thread. The Chiefs nearly blew a 32-point lead against Denver on 11/1/1964. Headed for the go-ahead TD, the Broncos fumbled a few yards from the KC goal line. The Chiefs converted that turnover into the clinching TD. Too bad Hank...

Channel 5 here in Nashville is reporting that this game will be rescheduled for later in the season due to another player and another person in the Titans organization testing positive. The new game date will be announced "shortly".

Those 3 TDs on blocked punts in one season by the 2014 Eagles are kind of startling. Is that the record? Takes me back...the only TDs I ever scored in grade school and HS each came on a blocked punt return, so I guess that explains my fascination. Oh well, just an old-timer on Throwback Tuesday.......

This game is still in the Record & Fact book as tied for second for most combined punts (29). The Cardinals had 16 and the Lions had 13.
