Re: Seniors

As for Meador and Cromwell, I see what you mean when you imply that Meador would look like a better career on paper as he has two more pro bowls. But Cromwell's accolades (which include three first team all pros in addition to four pro bowls) might be a tad more impressive because he played his ent...

Buford "Baby" Ray also had an 11 year playing career (all with the Packers). NFL All-Decade Team: 1940s, all-pro first team: 1939, '41, '43, and '44

Has a case for HOF, seems like HOVG is super-strong case

Re: 1974 Dallas Cowboys

But in 1974…… what went wrong? Maybe getting old on defense at a few positions, and replacements maybe a year away. Mostly, a rash of turnovers early in games they could have won if they'd taken care of the ball. Had they won a couple of them, rather than losing (could have gone either way) they'd ...

Fouts should have gotten it over Mosely

and he did in the PFWA and NEA polls, so I give him credit for being consensus MVP anyway.

Lot's of good quotes, research

in that series. Lots of details I was not aware of ... salaries ... I bet Cliff and John M and Eric G. would like it. Would love to hear their thoughts, but then again, a lot of stuff that was new to me wouldn't be to them. I was aware of Nitschke getting benched ... and they cover that. Nitschke wa...

Re: Dumb and Amazing factoids

Came across this 'factoid' and found it unbelievable... When Gary Danielson was in college at Purdue, he set a school rushing record with 213 yards in 16 attempts against U of Washington in 1972. My memories of Danielson in the NFL was of a guy who could injure himself dropping back to pass, but I ...

Re: Dumb and Amazing factoids

Curtis McGriff started 71 NFL games and never recorded a sack, even unofficially --- yes he got lifted on passing downs but you'd think at some point someone passed on first down and LT chased the QN into his defender's arms.

Re: Seniors

, Jackson as said up top had the most receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in the 1970's can expand that from 1969-81 -- #1 in rec, yds, TDs, 5th in YPC a 13-year span and he has a case and you make it strong. having seen him a lot ... something was lacking, dropped more than you'd...

Re: Goal Posts

Might not have been a league wide rule because stadiums were multi-use, the NFL might not have had the resources to put it in league wide. Just a guess. The extension of the goal posts in 1966 was because of the 1965 Western Division Playoff between Green Bay and Baltimore. Jim Tunney was the offic...
