Re: WR with most career 90+ yard TD receptions
In 1981 Steve Watson recorded a 93 yard TD reception against the Chargers in Week 4 and a 95 yard TD reception against Detroit in Week 6. In Week 14 he tallied an 86 yarder versus Kansas City, a play that fell just 6 yards short of the endzone. At the time it was the longest non-scoring pass play in...

Re: 'Bye-'bye, Pac-12
I started following the Pac 12 when it was the Pac 8 conference around 1970 (Jim Plunkett's senior season). The powers that be have destroyed one of the best conferences in America. I'm totally turned off by this. Greed wins again.RichardBak wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 11:11 pm College ball is all fucked up. Can I say that? Guess I just did.

Re: Notable Chiefs/Dolphins matchups
October 17, 1976: Chiefs 20 @ Dolphins 17. Jan Stenerud's 34 yard field goal in overtime wins it for K.C. Bob Griese throws for over 300 yards in a losing effort. This was Kansas City's first win over Miami in 7 years. NFL Films selects it as their syndicated NFL Game of the Week. https://www.pro-f...

Re: 1972 Topps football high numbers
Back in the fall of 1982 I ordered a complete 3rd series from a guy who was advertising in Sports Collectors Digest. He was selling the 3rd series for $115. The cards were all razor sharp but a couple were noticeably off center like the George Blanda In Action card. I eventually upgraded those. I ha...

Re: Dick Butkus
I have a preseason game where he played against the Packers in Milwaukee, where he got a head of steam and made hits with such ferocity that the crowd literally would go berserk in unison ... Here's a look at that game for those who haven't seen it: https://youtu.be/eeUkZ8Cw6es?si=KF4rDkpGKgznT5Km

Re: Dick Butkus
One NFL Films clip that stands out (and there are many) was Butkus' hit on Charlie Sanders at Wrigley Field back in the late '60's. On the play Butkus wiped out Sanders and one of his own teammates like they were bowling pins. Butkus personified the NFL's "Black and Blue" division. R.I.P. ...
