Re: Pre-1966 NFL Championship Game MVPs

I'd think Otto Graham might have been likely for 1950 for the late drive. Although Lou Groza might have been the choice. Maybe Bobby Layne for the 1953 game for his late TD pass. I don't know if there were game MVPs handed out in the earlier eras. I remember hearing that Taylor won the 65 award, but...

Erich Barnes is already in. They'll likely give you a chance to nominate another player.

For reference, here is a link to the HOVG list:

Re: Upcoming Dick LeBeau Book

For those of you who would be interested, here is a link Dick LeBeau discussing his book and his career. One big part of his book - and mentioned early in this interview - points out the incredible statistics posted by the 2008 Steelers defense. https://podcast.thegamebeforethemoney.com/e/the-legend...

Re: Looking At the Teams That Attempted to Threepeat

Just looked up that regular season Browns/Lions game. Otto Graham was 1 for 6 with 15 yards passing! Wow. Maybe the teams were sleepwalking through it to get ready for the big game. With it supposedly being Graham's last game plus the fact that Det had beaten the Browns twice, I think it might have...

Re: Neal Anderson

Anderson actually did a good job of replacing Payton, especially helping out a typical Ditka offense in the passing game early but injuries took their toll by his seventh season. A somewhat, similar career to Roger Craig without the championships or receiving numbers. His touchdowns warrant a HOVG ...

Re: Looking At the Teams That Attempted to Threepeat

Doing some research on the mid-50s Lions, who won back to back then made the championship game. This is pre-Super Bowl, of course. They had a great chance to three-peat in that era. I think the Packers had been the only threepeat before them - in the late 20s/early 30s before the playoff era. One t...

Re: A ton of information in this article

Cliff is so great - another great article from him. The story of Conzleman and Rooney getting in by "voice vote" - Does that mean they said - all in favor say "aye"??? This reminded me of an article that I found of Daley's - I think it was part of the Sports of the Times column. ...

Neal Anderson

I have my nominations in for this year -- but considering Neal Anderson for next year. My memory of him that he was an excellent all-around running back for the Bears for several years. Very good both rushing and receiving. Yet, I don't really hear anything about him anymore and the younger Bears fa...
