Re: Trivial (if not Trivia)
I think it's Frank "Bruiser" Kinard and Clarence "Ace" Parker. Both played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the late 1930's and early 1940's. Parker played one season (1945) for the Boston Yanks. And then both played for the NY Yankees in the AAFC.

Re: Has This Ever Happened?
<Don Hutson modernized all sorts of common receiving routes — he was the first to run a slant in a straight line while others did it in rounded fashion — but perhaps his most famous was inventing the post route. At that time, the field goal posts were within the field of play in the end zone, and i...

TD runs by players from punt formation
I'm only aware of three. Cincinnati's Jeff Hayes (P) ran 61 yards against Pittsburgh on 10/13/1986. Denver's Billy Van Heusen (WR-P) ran 66 yards against Houston on 9/17/1972. Pittsburgh's Bob Gage (TB-DB) ran 97 yards against the Bears on 12/4/1949. Gage only punted four times in 1949, but his 97-y...

Regular season overtime games
Its early in the 2015 season, but regular season overtime games are at a record pace. Of the 91 games so far, 9 have gone to overtime (9.89%). The previous season with the highest percentage was 2002, when 25 of the 256 games went to overtime (9.77%). Other seasons with at least 8% are: 2003-8.98% (...

Re: Your nominations for worst football card ever
Topps card #527 from the 1977 set is awful. It is card about the 1976 NFC Championship game. First of all, there is airbrushing on the front. The front also shows James Harris in action. The photo shows Harris about to be tackled. I do not believe he played in that game. He didn't. Harris was told ...

Re: Seeking online sources for newspapers
What source do you use for Minneapolis/St. Paul? I'm looking for missed FG distances, and the Vikings media guides have been pretty good about documenting the missed FG distances. According to my records I am missing one missed FG for the Vikings and three for the Vikings opponents so it's not a wh...

Re: A Mystery 49er from 1974
This might be an absurd notion, but here goes. If the image in the highlight film is from stock footage from a previous season, it might be Ed Beard. Beard was a LB for the 49ers from 1965-1972 and wore #50. Mustache, sideburns, hair color. Even the part in the hair is on the same side. Not sure whe...

New Mexico Military Institute. Roger Staubach and Tim Van Galder. Staubach was drafted in 1964 and threw his first TD pass to Lance Rentzel on 9/21/1969. Van Galder was drafted by the Cardinals in 1966. His only TD pass went to Donny Anderson on 10/29/1972.
