1960 Philadelphia Eagles

Easily one of the most interesting, unlikely NFL champions ever, and I'm glad to be the owner of a copy of the book written about them by PFRA's Robert Gordon. Fascinating story...discuss.

Otis Taylor Article

Sad article about Otis Taylor bedridden with Parkinsons, though uplifting about the sacrifices his sister has made to care for him.

Re: Most Egregious Historical Untruth in a Football Film

"Remember the Titans" is also inaccurate making it seem like the games were close and the championship game came down to the final play. In fact, both teams had been champions the year before the schools merged, and they crushed all of their opponents.

Here's an article from today's Washington Post about Lombardi's move to Washington in 1969:

Re: Dick Nolan VS Bum Phillips

Dick Nolan played with my father on Maryland's 1953 national championship team. I got to meet him at a 50th anniversary celebration during halftime of a Terps game (along with other future pros like Ronnie Waller, Chet Hanulak and Bob Pellegrini), and must say he had quite the "bourbon tan"...

1969 Chiefs Roster

Interesting realization that may have already occurred to many of you, but it's fitting that the last team to ever play a game as a member of the AFL, the 1969/70 Kansas City Chiefs, had several AFL stalwarts who played their last games ever in the Super Bowl against the Vikings: Tom Flores, Jacky L...

Re: Strangely 'close' playoff games

Who could forget one of the most dreadful playoff games ever, the Cowboys' 5-0 win over the Lions in the 1970 playoffs. Nice to hear the classic NFL theme song at the beginning of this youtube clip of that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym3ZcpVHaZ4

Re: 7 Worst Head Coaches Ever - HA!

Don't think I've seen Rick Venturi's name anywhere...2-17 in stints with the Colts and Saints, although it may be he replaced coaches who were fired mid-season to ride out the season as the dreaded interim coach on lousy, demoralized teams.
