Re: Greatest MNF Comeback
In 1983, Dallas began the season on MNF against defending champ Washington. The Cowboys were down 23-3 at half but won the game 31-30.

Re: More footage of NBC's telecast of Super Bowl V surfaces?
I must say I'm surprised that there's been no media coverage about this discovery. Granted this is not comparable to the finding of Game 7 of the 1960 World Series in Bing Crosby's wine cellar, but still, I thought locating an almost complete broadcast of an early Super Bowl, the first one that was...

Re: 1937 Wonder Team, '45 Rams, short punt formation
I still remember the Eagles lining up in the shotgun (or short punt) formation with Randall Cunningham in his own end zone. He punted quickly and it ended up being a 90 yard punt (if I recall correctly)! This was in the 90s. EDIT: found a video clip and it appears it was an actual punt in 1989 (alth...

Re: Best Year of the 1950s
You'll have to define "anywhere close". Each team's offense is different and there's little doubt that the Rams had one of the best in history. If you look at the Yanks, you can see that they typically won shoot-outs (their offense was #2 in the league in PPG, averaging 30.5 but their def...

Re: Best Year of the 1950s
Right. And what about the other teams that played those same AAFC teams and didn't come anywhere close to scoring as many points as the Rams did? You'll have to define "anywhere close". Each team's offense is different and there's little doubt that the Rams had one of the best in history....

Re: Best Year of the 1950s
The 1950 Baltimore Colts really is not a team that should have been taken into the NFL in 1950. The Colt were the worst team in the All-America Conference in 1949. It was George Preston Marshall that insisted that Baltimore be one of the teams to enter the NFL from the AAFC. Marshall got some money...

Re: A Signature Play in History for each team
You may find that not all eras in a franchise's history may have a signature play. This could also go for a winning or even championship era in a franchise's history. Example - Jimmy Johnson era Dallas. If you want to extend signature play to a full game , then I guess Dallas winning at undefeated ...

Re: A Signature Play in History for each team
For a couple of teams I think the signature moment is a whole game rather than a single play, or even a single drive. For the Jets, obviously it's winning the Super Bowl, but there's no one play or one sequence that stands out. The signature image is Namath going off the field holding up a finger f...

Evan » Tue Feb 24, 2015 3:52 pm "... Would the Eagles be the Miracle in the Meadowlands, or is that more of a Giant screwup than a hallowed Eagles moment ?.." Joe's use of " greatest or most memorable " certainly qualifies that horrible Meadowlands event. Gee... two of these wer...

Re: A Signature Play in History for each team
For the Cardinals, I'd go with Elmer Angsman's 70 yard burst on an icy field for a touchdown in the 4th quarter of the NFL Championship game against the Eagles. That put the Cards up by 14 points, essentially sealed the game, and earned them their first and only NFL Championship trophy.
