What happened with the 1981 Raiders?
They had virtually the same roster from the 1980 SB team, yet things went so terribly wrong. They suffered 3 straight shutouts at one point, and in the AFC-CG rematch at home, got beat 55-21 and gave up 5 touchdowns to Kellen Winslow. They had such an offyear the year after the SB and they would the...

Re: If there had been 6 playoff teams and seeding from 1970-
Nothing against the work you did, but I don't like the way you've phrased your premises (assuming that I'm reading them right). No #6 teams got GYPPED in those years -- neither did any #5 teams. Four teams made the playoffs back then, and everybody knew that going in. If you finished 6th, you didn'...

If there had been 6 playoff teams and seeding from 1970-1989
I did some research just for fun on how the NFL playoffs might have looked if we had 6 teams per conference and 2 WC games in the seasons prior to 1990-91. It's really interesting to note how many different teams would have gotten in and how a lot of good potential #6 teams got gypped. 1970-71 (1) B...

Re: Who got screwed most by 1970-1974 playoff rotation forma
Miami, even thought they got screwed by the format, still did make 3 straight SB's.
I think the '72 Packers and '73 Bengals were robbed of at least a chance to play for their conference championships.

Re: 7 Worst Head Coaches Ever - HA!
How can you have a Worst Coaches Thread without Les Steckel and the '84 Vikings? By far the worst year for the Vikings- 1962 had 2-11-1, but that was their second year. 2011 also had the same 3-13 record, but they lost NINE games by a touchdown or less. 1984, OTOH- that team had so many bad losses: ...

Who got screwed most by 1970-1974 playoff rotation format?
In the first 5 years we had Wild Card playoff teams, divisional playoff matchups were determined not by team merit and record, but by yearly divisional rotation. On one hand, this saw instances of legendary games happening that, believe it or not, would not have taken place with seeding. The Dolphin...

1957 NFL Championship- San Francisco 49ers at Cleveland Browns. What if SF doesn't blow that big 2nd half lead at Kezar against Detroit? 1978 AFC Championship- New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers. If only Fairbanks had waited until after the season to consider the Colorado job, I don't think...

1957 49ers- What if?
If they don't blow that big second half lead against Detroit, how would they have fared against Cleveland in the title game?

Leslie O'Neal
He's probably the least known member of the 100 sack club along with Greg Townsend. He actually has as many sacks as Lawrence Taylor. Guy had 8 double-digit sack seasons, #10 overall on the all-time list. I remember he was really good for the Bobby Ross-era Chargers (17 sacks in the 1992 worst-to-fi...
