Re: My 5 this years

My 5 this year: Larry Brooks Doug English Jay Novacek Riley Odoms Mike Quick I believe that the only first-time candidates of note are Nate Newton are Leslie O’Neal, the latter I think will be inducted this year. I also believe Bill Fralic, Chris Hinton and Russ Washington will gain the most votes a...

Re: Games with deceptive final scores

While not in these categories, I also find interesting when a team having a big lead insert their backups late in the game, and they keep scoring. One game that I remember was the 1981 Cowboys-Colts game at Baltimore. In that game both Glenn Carano and David Humm made the only start of their careers...

Re: 2025 Obituaries

Bob Long, reciever for the Packers, Falcons and Redskins from 1964-‘70) died Sunday. Bob was a guest at the PRFA Meeting in Green Bay in 2016 (I believe Rick Schabowski drove him up from Milwaukee). They got there early Friday night and Bob grabbed a seat to listen to speakers (he was to speak with...

Re: Greatest regular season games of all tme

1983 and 1986 had many of those games-:

1983 Dallas-Washington (MNF)
1983 Raiders-Washington
1983 Raiders-Dallas (SNF)
1983 Washington-Green Bay (MNF)
1983 Seattle-Kansas City

1986 Miami-Jets
1986 Minnesota-Washington

Re: lame streaks

Jim Marshall in his last two seasons was pulled after one or two defensive series and replaced with Randy Holloway. While not a streak, I remember a MNF between the Cowboys and Titans, when Tennessee was winning handily and when they were again close for a touchdown, they tried to throw a TD to perp...

Re: Greatest regular season games of all tme

The obvious answer is 2018 Rams-Chiefs on MNF. That game had everything you could ask for. Like 7 lead changes, and the best defensive performance ever in a shootout (Rams). Only overtime would've made it better. That was the game that should have been in Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, but due to t...

Re: Playoff teams that could have had bad starts (to their season)

For this thread, I would nominate the 1981 Bengals: Week 1 (Seattle): They were down 21-3 in the second quarter and 21-10 at halftime before coming back to win 27-21. Week 2 (@Jets): They were down 17-3 in the second quarter and 20-10 in the third quarter before pulling out a 31-30 win. Week 3 (Cle...

Re: what college QBs did you consider "can't miss" prospects over the years?

Since I started watching football in 1977, John Elway and Peyton Manning were clearly at the top.

From earlier, I would think that Joe Namath, Terry Bradshaw and Jim Plunkett.

Of course, there are more busts like Art Schlichter, Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Akili Smith and others.

Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame question

I agree that the PFHOF should have been opened earlier, maybe after World War II, but you have to remember that the Baseball Hall of Fame also took years to been founded (The National Association was founded in 1871 and the HOF in 1936), and that pro football was not still so popular until the late ...

Re: Dave Volsky's YouTube channel

I agree with most of you. I really enjoyed Volsky's channels. It was great finding the music I grew watching and that wasn´t including in The Power and the Glory and Tropic Thunder and other NFL Films music recopilations, as well as knowing who the composers were (NFL Films only listed Sam Spence as...
