Re: Longtime NFL head coaches returning to NCAA
Sam Rutigliano, after nearly seven seasons in Cleveland, went to Liberty five years later, where he stayed for 11 seasons. Joe Walton, after seven seasons with the Jets, went to Robert Morris, where he stayed for 20 seasons. Both Rutigliano and Walton started the football programs at Liberty and Rob...

Re: 2024 Obituaries
Jim Tunney, a three-time Super Bowl referee and perennial Hall of Fame nominee, known simply as "the Dean of Referees," died December 12 at the age of 95. https://www.footballzebras.com/2024/12/jim-tunney-the-dean-of-referees-dies-at-95/ Tunney is still my all-time favorite referee. He al...

Re: Biggest "Name" player not in the HOF
Joe Theismann and Jim Plunkett should make the list, although I don’t think they are HOF worthy, they were popular as players and should have a case for the HOVG.

Re: Dexter Bussey
I never knew that Bussey played at Oklahoma. I always read that he went to Texas-Arlington.
He was a solid, if unspectacular player for the Lions. seemed too have faded when Billy Sims came, but he still hanged on until 1984.

Re: 2024 NFL Predictions
Not a prediction per se, but every season I like to see undrafted players from lower division schools (like the Jets' Xavier Gipson last year) make a big play in the opening game

Re: The most 'boring' Super Bowl ever, IYO?
For me, XX Patriots-Bears and XXIV Broncos-49ers (inspite of the scoring and the players) were boring blowouts. I remember in both games stop watching. On a side note, I consider that the NFL Films highlights of Super Bowl XX were the worst produced of any of the first 25 Super Bowls by far. Very du...

Re: Worst draft classes for a team
Brant's drafts definitely went south after the draft was moved to April in 1976. Here are the second rounders: 1976: RB Jim Jensen (solid player) and OG Jim Eidson 1977: Quarterback Glenn Carano 1978: FB Todd Christensen - Hall of the Very Good 1979: DB Aaron Mitchell 1980: No pick - trade for John...

Re: Worst draft classes for a team
1980- Traded 1st round to Baltimore for John Dutton Turned out to work out wonders for Dallas Others have commented on this, but in fairness to Dallas, their backs against the wall. They felt they were still in Super Bowl window and saw Larry Bethea was not going to fill Too Tall's shoes. So, Dutto...

Re: Worst draft classes for a team
Dutton gave the Cowboys some solid play but "didn't work wonders for Dallas", Robert. Yeah, I think Dutton was considered a flop in Dallas. Usually the Cowboys were always able to unload their garbage to other teams and pick up high draft picks, and this was like the first time the Cowboy...
