Re: Parcells a Football Life

V I look forward to your take on the Parcells book. I have the argument about Parcells nit the same without Belichick and think it's a little overstated. I would certainly agree that Belichick has proven himself the superior head coach, but Parcells was damn effective, particularly as a motivator a...

Re: "Best in football"

If you're right, then there's no point in teams having general managers and directors of player personnel and scouts and there's certainly no need for the annual draft over which there's so much fuss. Free agency wouldn't have any effect on the game whatsoever. NFL teams are constantly trying to up...

Re: "Best in football"

I'll add a likely unpopular opinion. The Hall of Fame hasn't become a joke, the concept itself is a joke. With exceptions here and there, players are overrated. They are interchangeable parts whose failure or success has more to do with the coaches and programs they find themselves under. Good teams...

Re: KNOWN ISSUES

Ken Crippen and I have locked horns on occasion, I won't deny that. But his response makes a lot of sense. When you could post a public answer to technical issues you've gone as record as saying you know how to solve but for some reason you don't, what other conclusion is there to draw other than yo...

Re: The Greatest Postseason Upset of the 1970s

I'd have to chart it out, but if Oakland and Los Angeles were the two also-rans of their respective conferences in the 1970s (the Raiders winning one SB to the Rams none, of course) part of it was attributable to playoff scheduling that was never in their favor. It seems like Oakland was always sadd...

Re: Conspiracy theory? Not bloody likely ...

Now, I'm never going to rival Einstein for white papers but if the time (or lack thereof) of our esteemed board is such an issue wouldn't it make sense to post one simple "here's how to resolve forum technical problems" message to all and sundry? Who knows, maybe helping the entire readers...

Re: Greatest MNF Comeback

One of the more thrilling games was the 49ers at Rams, 1989. The Rams had a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and a 24-10 lead in the third and lost 30-27 when the 49ers scored 20 in the fourth. John Taylor had two 90+ yard TDs. It was the beginning of the end for Fritz Schurmer, although to his credit...

Re: Greatest MNF Comeback

1983 was Cosell's final season on MNF. I'd be curious to know what role (if any) the Garrett "incident" played in his decision to leave after 14 years? Or did ABC decide to replace him? It was probably a combination of things. The little monkey comment was an issue, but seemed to get smoo...
