Re: The most 'boring' Super Bowl ever, IYO?

I'd say Super Bowl VIII. I can't remember a single play from that Super Bowl. Many of the other snoozers like XXXV or 50 or VI have that one play that sticks out. I remember absolutely nothing from VIII except for one moment when Bart Starr and Pat Summerall answered Ray Scott with the same answer ...

Re: 1975 Pittsburgh Steelers item

Both the 1975 and 1978 Steelers lost to the Rams by similar scores, 10-3 and 10-7. True, granted the 1975 game was the last of the regular season, whereas the 1978 game was the Steelers’ eleventh. I don’t know if they’d have clinched yet but that could be seen as a slightly more meaningful loss pot...

Re: Super Bowl XVI on NFL Network

For what it's worth, the NFL Network shows Super Bowl XIV tomorrow (Friday) at 10 am ET. The Steelers beat the Rams but the Rams led at the end of the third quarter and were driving to go back ahead when Vince Ferragamo didn't see Billy Waddy ("Ray, Waddy was wide open.") and threw an inte...

Re: Obscure RB trivia

For the first question, Don Perkins is one, and I think Dick Bass is another -- although he crossed 5,000 yards during the season, so maybe you don't want to count him. Those were the first two guys I thought of. After that I looked at another half-dozen or more, but none of them qualified. John Da...

Re: Gary Myers comment that Eli a 1st ballot QB

He will do everything he can to make it happen for "his guy." It seems like nowadays that is the only way players get in the PFHOF. That and get your kid(s) to run a PR campaign. Or whine on TV. Both of those methods seem to be successful. There was an individual who whined on TV a few ye...

Re: PFHOF busts

Great question. I don't THINK so. (But I don't know for sure) I only say that because the times I've visited the Hall over the years I've noticed it seems like the older busts seem a little more worn. Probably after years of people touching them and patting them on the head. Also the newer ones see...

Re: Seniors

Re-ripped from the PFRA headlines! I think Anderson and Scott were arguably the greatest safety tandem in NFL history, but I wouldn't put either guy in the HOF because they simply didn't have HOF careers. I'm not sure what actual player on those No-Name defenses is being overlooked by Canton. Those...

Re: Negro League stats

MLB is now incorporating Negro League stats into its record book. This is also the league that has Barry Bonds not in its HOF but Harold Baines is in. I am going to voice the politically-incorrect opinion that I find this to be absolute lunacy. There were seven different overlapping "Negro Lea...

Re: Seniors

To move onto a different player One player who looks like he could belong in the Hall of Fame based solely off of his resume (and is already in the Hall of Very Good here) is the Dolphins free safety Jake Scott. When I look at his resume, I see five pro bowls, four all pro teams (1972 and 1975 bein...
