Re: 2015 Steelers reminiscent of '88?

How about Delton Hall? Remember? Sure made some noise in his '87 rookie year, especially opening day - picking off Joe as well as running a fumble back 50 yards for a TD. He sure could HIT! A shame what injuries would do to him the following years. Would have loved to see him still around and health...

2015 Steelers reminiscent of '88?

A bit of déjà vu, it seems. Going into the '88 season, if you can remember, John Stallworth and Donnie Shell were more-so asked to resign than they, themselves, actually retiring on their own accord. Pinney, Cole, and Dunn 's contracts weren't renewed that off-season either. It seems like we're seei...

Re: Greatest MNF Comeback

In 1988, I think that the Raiders were down 24-7 to the Broncos before coming back and winning it in OT. Before looking it up just now for a refresher, I do indeed remember watching the game in my room on my little b&w TV. It being the end of high school, I was allowed to have a TV in my room a...

Best 'simultaneous' Butkus/Sayers game?

Of all the Bears games you can think of in which BOTH excelled, which one is the greatest accumulative performance between both?

Re: Greatest MNF Comeback

Don't know any off top of my head that can top what seems to be 'the Holy Trinity' of MNF comebacks - Oak/NO '79, Jets/Mia '00, Indy/TB '03. Not sure if this would match either these three anyway, but here's an 'almost' MNF comeback for what it's worth. Remember Neil O'Donnell's "coming out&quo...

'70 Niners & Raiders' SBV chances

Being that both Bay Area squads made quite a game of it in each of their CC-appearances, how do you all think SF matches up vs Colts? Raiders vs Dallas? Neither matchup took place during the '70 regular season but, of course, we know that both Bay teams played each other in the finale - SF crushing ...

Re: The Greatest Postseason Upset of the 1970s

Did the Rams have QB issues? Sure, but they always did. Nothing new there. Defensively, the Rams gave up fewer points than Dallas that year (309 to 313), but more important, their DPR was 64.7 to Dallas's 72.5. Sure, the game was in Dallas, but the Rams beat the Cowboys in Dallas in the 1976 playof...

Were '79 Eagles actually better than '80?

Evan posting Tampa's playoff triumph over Philly in '79 as one of the greatest post-season upsets of the '70s and myself bringing up the '80 Eagles 1st Q/half scoring ineptitude inspires me starting this thread. I would have to think '79 as being more impressive. Philly beat more good, or at least b...

Re: Non-playoff teams that played an important spoiler role

Would '80 Dolphins beating Pats in the 'Lennon' MNF game possibly count? Perhaps considering that NE won their last two yet still didn't make it. Looked up Delvin Williams upon posting my '77 Niners 0-5' thread and saw that Wiki stated his two Pro Bowls but made an interesting point in that his stat...

1937 Wonder Team, '45 Rams, short punt formation

Are any of you familiar with the 1937 Northampton High School (Northampton, PA) 9-0 Wonder Team? They averaged 58 points per game and allowed a total of 25 points that entire season. Very scary stuff! They were invited to Chicago at season's end to play against Austin High led by Bill DeCorrevont. T...
