Re: Most courageous performance by a QB?

Sorry to get off topic here but I'm still pissed about the Bills starting him over Flutie in the Music City Miracle game. Didn't Johnson do some serious whining to the brass about Flutie being the starter ahead of himself? I don't know about that. Flutie supposedly did some heavy bitching in 2000 a...

Re: Most courageous performance by a QB?

Johnson did indeed have lousy pocket presence. He held the ball too long and never had a sense of where the rush was about to come from. But this thread is about courageous performances, and Rob Johnson had plenty of courage. He had three injuries in his first five games in 1998. He started 10 games...

Re: Most courageous performance by a QB?

Most courageous back to back performances go to Doug Flutie in 1999. I remember Peter King summed it up, seeing "Buffalo falling behind Seattle 23-0 and Doug Flutie making a zillion plays to try and bring them back. He needed a zillion and three." Jon Kitna was carving up the Bills defense...

Re: Best Year of the 1960s

I don't know but my favorite game to watch from the 60's is 1960 Lions at Colts. The box score doesn't do it justice and that neither team ended up winning the west takes away from that it was a meaningful game when it was played. Has to be seen to be appreciated, all the special teams stuff in the...

Re: 'Mt Rushmore' All-Time QBs

I had hoped that the fad of "Mount Rushmore of _____" lists had gone the same way as spinning hubcap attachments. Yup. I think I said similar a few years ago but it's cheap and easy content tied to Presidents Day every year, and pretty much every football related site does it or has done ...

Re: Tom Owen

Another one that might fall into the same boat is Todd Collins. Drafted to be the heir apparent to Jim Kelly in 1995. Became the Bills starter most of the year in 1997, the year after Kelly retired, went to Kansas City for half of a decade and barely set foot on the field as a backup (sometimes 3rd...

Re: 'Mt Rushmore' All-Time QBs

Montana and Unitas (can't decide on number 1. Never been able to) The next two would be between Graham, Baugh, Manning and Brady....I can't choose which two. I have the same 4 as Reaser. I was prepared to add Brady if he had completed a 19-0 season. When the Pats lost, I decided to table adding any...

Re: Miami's Dominance over Buffalo in the 1970s

Not perfection, but domination nonetheless: In between the two losses to Buffalo suffered by New England during the Belichick era, they went 26-2. From 1950-58, the Browns were 16-2 against the Steelers. From 1968-74, the Vikings beat the Lions 13 straight times before losing in week 6 of '74. From...

Re: Tony Dungy VS Jimmy Johnson HOF

Dave Schnell - made a name at Indiana by beating both Michigan and Ohio State, but I don't even know if he was a UFA in the NFL.

I always wondered what my real estate lawyer did before law school.

Re: Fats Holmes

Unfortunately, the nickname proved to be prophetic, as Holmes' weight ballooned to as much as 400 pounds. I saw a picture of him with Dan Rooney, and he was just massive, as big as the Fridge got to be in retirement.
