Re: 1998 Atlanta Falcons- Biggest Fluke in NFL History?

Chandler had been very good, when healthy, with Atlanta. The Falcons had started 1-7 in 1997; Chandler had not played in two of the losses, and he was knocked out of four other games (Atlanta lost all 4.) In the 2nd half of the 1997 season, Chandler finished every game, had a 101 passer rating in th...

Re: 1986- The fall of 3 football empires

Agreed. Every time I hear a 90s (or later) Cowboy fan bitch about how Jerry Jones fired Tom Landry, I ask them how Jerry should've done it differently? In thirty-four years, not a single one has come back with a decent answer. "Well, I would've done it differently" is usually the best the...

Re: 2024 Coach/Contributors semis

Pleasantly surprised to hear of Parker's election. Very deserving, despite what Broncos and Patriots fans may be saying on Twitter.

Re: Players with great seasons that got overshadowed by anot

Daunte Culpepper's 2004 season - he ranked 5th all time on the single-season lists for passing yards, TD passes, and passer rating. This came in a season where Randy Moss was limited to 13 games and 700+ yards with a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, that was the same season in which Peyton Manning s...

Re: Champs you think still win-it-all w/out their starting Q

Drew Bledsoe began to go downhill exactly halfway through the 1999 season. The Patriots were 6-2. Their only losses were in the final 25 seconds: Vinatieri missed a FG as time expired, and Damon Huard threw a TD pass in the final 25 seconds. Bledsoe had thrown 13 TD's, 4 INT's, and had a 97.9 passer...

Re: Wondering if this will work

Just to clarify, I'm not saying that I believe that Bob K had his shot at Canton, was rejected, and should no longer be considered. I'm just using that to illustrate why I disagree with the letter writers' reasoning.

Re: Wondering if this will work

As Ken Crippen said, Sharpe's election is more likely to hurt Dilweg than help him.

My picks as of now are Gradishar, Wistert, and... pick any one of 7-8 other candidates.

Re: Wondering if this will work

I also disagree with this proposal for a set queue. I believe the discussion should be reopened every year. As Gary Myers wrote on Twitter, sometimes there are new voters on the Senior committee. Sometimes voters do additional research over the course of a year, and change their minds. It is true th...

Re: Latest lead taken and blown

Moore's catch came with 14 seconds to play. That beats the Music City game, in which Buffalo had taken the lead with 20 seconds left. It was actually 16 seconds. There were 20 seconds remaining when the ball was snapped on Steve Christie's go-ahead field goal. I remember wondering if Buffalo should...
