Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
Though I hated the 49ers at that time --still hoping the slow Cowboys could win it all-- was very happy to see Gary Johnson get a ring. He was a force in postseason. The Chargers wore him out with too many snaps ...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
Haha ... I thought I liked stirring the pot! CS might have me beat ... bad opponents or not, the Niners were the first team to win 15 games in a regular season and still won it all, shutting out Da Bears and making Marino run for his life. If any 15-1 team is overrated it's the 2011 Packers, who fel...

Re: The 6 Losses of the 1991 SF 49ers
Craig's injury happened in 1990. I still feel he could have helped them in 1991 but that fumble in the championship game made it easier for Seifert to let him go. Steve Young was a lot of their running game in 1991.

Re: The 6 Losses of the 1991 SF 49ers
That Oakland loss was not only bad but it set up events that would help the young Cowboys become champions. Charles Haley was so upset after the loss that he created chaos in the locker room and the team had to summon Ronnie Lott from the opposite locker room to help calm him down. Haley was then tr...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
Had Chandler's kick for GB been ruled no good, the Colts probably would have won and hosted the Browns. Matte would throw better but I think the Browns would have went back-to-back as champions. With Baltimore worried about Collins, maybe Warfield would have shined, coming back from injury? Even had...

Re: 1973 Raiders
The concussions that brought down Staubach started against the Falcons in the 1978/79 divisional playoff. Roger recovered and played well against the Rams and Steelers but in Three Rivers the next season in 1979, Staubach took a hit from LC Greenwood that was really bad. Staubach remained the ultima...

Re: CHOG concept
It's tough for an actual good player to go ten years with consistent play and not get an accolade or postseason game. Larry Stallings is a good example making a Pro Bowl and played a long time.

Re: Worst draft classes for a team
Though he contributed to championship teams and made the HOF, Bobby Beathard had some horrible drafts for the Chargers, before he left in 2000. Gil Brandt made the HOF for Dallas but had bad drafts during the 80s. If these guys can make it, why not Jack Vainisi or Don Klosterman?
