Re: 1909 Exhibition between Kansas and Minnesota @ Chambrun

I've got numerous French articles but the prospect of sitting down and spending countless hours inputting them word-by-word into Google translate isn't something that fires me up. I'm not a researcher, I'm a collector that just happens to recognize that some of this information might be useful to ot...

Re: 1909 Exhibition between Kansas and Minnesota @ Chambrun

Interesting. Oddly enough, I haven't come across any references to that tournament yet. I'm sure I will though. I'll know what I'm looking at when I do, thanks to you. It's also weird that they would bother taking individual photographs of the two teams' captains, as well. I've got tons of photograp...

Re: 1909 Exhibition between Kansas and Minnesota @ Chambrun

Interesting find. The crews of the two battleships, USS Kansas and USS MInnesota. were part of the 16-ship "Great White Fleet" that Teddy Roosevelt sent around the world for more than a year to demonstrate the U.S. Navy's power. Thank you. That certainly makes more sense than two college ...

Re: Football Card sequencing

I don't know about old Bowman but there's definitely sequencing for Topps. There's sheet sequencing for rack, cello and wax packs, as well as single card sequencing for individual packs. You obviously need to know the sequence but also have an image of an uncut sheet in order to tell which cards wil...

1909 Exhibition between Kansas and Minnesota @ Chambrun Park

I've come across magazine and newspaper documentation (more mention and photos than any real game description, although the captions do mention Kansas winning) of a CFB exhibition game played at Chambrun Park, Nice, France between Kansas and Minnesota football teams some time very late January, 1909...

Re: Early CFB info

Have you tried old football programs? I have one for Cornell-Michigan from 11/6/15 that has uniform numbers and rosters (last names only) for both teams. If you're interested in the details send me an email at jgrasso@frontiernet.net and I can provide them. Thank you very much, John. I'm not sure i...

Early CFB info

Does anyone know where I could find CFB roster info from the 1910s-1930s? Specifically uniform numbers but at this point I would take anything, even just a list of who was on the team. I'm striking out even in that department on a lot of them. I'm coming into a lot of game action photos from these p...

Re: My First Post - A Give and a Take (Pictures Fixed)

Someone much more experienced than myself believes it's Arthur Poe, who, apparently, was famous for a number of long scoring runs. He's far left in this picture.

Re: My First Post - A Give and a Take (Pictures Fixed)

Thanks for the welcome, gents! Another thing to consider is size. Buckets Goldenberg was 5" 10" 215 lb. Swede Johnston was 5' 10" 197 lb. Hank Bruder was 6' 0" 199 lb. Johnny Blood was 6' 1" 188 lb. The camera operator appears to be in a seated position, creating an upward P...
