Detroit Lions 1979-Best and Worse Game

The Detroit Lions in 1979 were simply awful. They played their best game in the 13th Week of the Season. It was their traditional Thanksgiving Game, this time versus the Chicago Bears. Their worst was at Veterans Stadium one week later. Week 13 vs the Chicago Bears. Bears came in at 6-5 to a dreadfu...

Re: Top, and Worst, Ten teams of the 14-game era, '61-thru-'77?

I think the Eagles from 1962 to 1977 might have been the worst. During that 16b year stretch, the Eagles had one winning season, one 500 season, and 14 losing seasons. Even with the winning season, 1966, there were three blowouts, 41 to 10 vs St. Louis, 56 to 7 vs Dallas, and 27 to 7 vs Cleveland. I...

Re: Top, and Worst, Ten teams of the 14-game era, '61-thru-'77?

The Eagles in 1972, lost their first five games before defeating the Chiefs 21 to 20. A few weeks later came game an 18 to 17 win at Houston. Both of these wins were on the road. In both games, Philadelphia held off last minute rallies. They led the Chiefs 21 to 0 and the Oilers 15 to 3. Their best ...

Since the Steelers played on a Saturday afternoon, CBS televised the historic game between the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns from Yankee Stadium to the Pittsburgh area. Re: 1991 Eagles in Detail

That still does not explain the lack of sacks and turnovers in the loss to Dallas in 91 at home. Let me explain the Eagles changes from year to year in a general statement about Pro vs College ball. Since I was a little guy at age 8, I have always had a strong preference for the NFL vs the College g...

Re: Toughest/Easiest schedules in football history

Once again I think of the 2008 Arizona Cardinals. They were 9-7 and played six of their games with teams in their Division. Most of their losses were blowouts. Recall these: 34 to 10 vs Vikings; 47 to7 vs Patriots; 48 to 20 vs Eagles
