Re: Two seasons that stood out to me

1999 could've been salvaged for the Jets had they not had the meek deer in headlights Rick Mirer as their backup when Vinny went down. When they finally got into a groove with Ray Lucas, they were in too deep a hole to crawl out of (ended up 8-8). Some similarities to last year...a backup who isn't...

Re: Two seasons that stood out to me

2003: I notice that every NFL team this season won at least four games (shoutout to the 03 Vikings for losing to each of them), and there were only six teams that finished 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7; and only one in the AFC. That year the top team by my stat was a sixth seeded Packers team that barely made t...

Re: My comments on Score% Differential Leaders

With all their (Commitment to) "Excellence", you'd think at least a couple of those late-'60s-thru-mid-'80s Raiders teams would have finished atop! The best teams the Raiders had in a regular season by score% differential is 1967 (a team which had eleven pro bowlers and six first team all...

Two seasons that stood out to me

While looking at the score percentage results, there were two seasons that stood out to me as particularly unorthodox in how they turned out, and I was wondering if you think there is any explanation as to why: 1999: I notice there are 12 or 13 teams that are within six tenths of a standard deviatio...

Re: Score% Differential - A DVOA Emulator

Though there are a couple who had to start a handful of games with their backup quarterbacks and still finished on top by Score% Differential because of other components. Namely the 2002 Eagles, 1976 Steelers, 1986 Bears, and 1995 49ers. Lest we forget the 68 Colts and the 72 Dolphins? Et tu, Brute...

My comments on Score% Differential Leaders

Here are all the teams that led the league in score% Differential from the other thread in their respective seasons: 1941 Bears 1942 Bears 1943 Bears 1944 Eagles 1945 Eagles 1946 Browns 1947 Browns 1948 Eagles 1949 Eagles 1950 Browns 1951 Browns 1952 Lions 1953 Browns 1954 Browns 1955 Browns 1956 Be...

Re: Score% Differential - A DVOA Emulator

The 73 Cowboys I believe are the best team to rank third in their season statistically (to the Rams and Dolphins). Looking more closely at the 73 Cowboys, Staubach had a very efficient year. This was also Calvin Hill's last big year before slowing down. One thing I found interesting is that no one ...

Re: Score% Differential - A DVOA Emulator

To comment on the best and worst....I guess its weird that both the 68 Colts and 69 Vikes rank in the top 5. A weird time for the NFL with diluted talent and expansion teams. Colts of that era are kind of funny....64, 67, 68, 71 all in the top 50....yet they win the title in 70. One team that stood...

Re: Worst playoff team in NFL history?

I nominate the 2007 Titans, a team that won more games (10) than they had passing touchdowns (9). It’s insane to think that a team could account for 9 touchdowns in 16 games and make the playoffs. Heck, they got in over that famously exciting 2007 Browns team with Derek Anderson throwing 29 touchdo...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

I do NOT think Brady is the greatest of all-time. That would be Otto Graham. Joe Montana & Johnny Unitas are second. I've thought that for a few years now. Why Graham over Unitas in your opinion? And any 21st century quarterbacks you’d take over Tom Brady? To me, Otto Graham is the greatest eve...
